Great start to Year 7!

Thank you, Tania, for hosting our Year 7 kick off!  We had lots of great food and lots of great conversation.  Looking forward to another year of reading and discussion!  See ya next month when we discuss "Chop Chop" on Connie's big front porch!

Discussion Questions for The Great Gatsby

Did it take you a bit to get into this book or were you immediately engaged?
Do you think Gatsby was "great"?  In other words, was Fitzgerald's title sincere or ironic?
Were you exposed to something new or different about people or certain parts of the world that maybe changed you or broadened your perspective?
Who was your favorite character and why!
Do you see changes in the main characters as the book progresses?  Do any of them grow or mature?  Do they learn something about themselves and how the world works?
Talk about any underlying symbols you picked up on.
If you've seen the movies, old and/or new....did you think they did a good job of "acting out" the book?  Did you prefer one movie over the other?
Did you find the end of the story surprising or predictable? Was it satisfying or would you prefer a different ending?
